You will race in the standard age groups (17-19, 20-24) and will NOT be categorized in any special way – it’s just a pricing advantage to acknowledge those hard working and lower income students.

First Responder Challenge (Police, Fire, EMT)
Fireman, Police, EMT race against each other. First place female and male responders win an awesome prize and an award plaque. Plus Toughman Enterprises will donate a check in the name of the winning group to The 9/11 Fund!

Military Challenge (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard)
Military personnel race against each other to show which branch are truly Toughmen. First place female and male in this category win awesome prizes and an award plaque.

Tri Club Challenge
Who is the Triathlon Club with the FASTEST athletes? It’s not just about individual achievement, but working together for the title of Best Tri Club around! It’s a great camaraderie builder for your club. Athletes in the Challenge will depart with their age group wave and be timed and ranked within their age group. They will also be ranked on a point system depending on where they place in their age group. The Tri Club with the highest points wins the Challenge. The Challenge is open to Age Group, Clydesdale, Athena, Elite, First Responder and Military athletes only.
If you have already registered and wish to participate in the Challenge, then please email us ASAP.
Points are based on the following scale:
1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 4 points
5th place: 2 point
Non-place finisher: 1 point

Relays
Racing as a relay team can be a great solution to many situations: you want to race TOUGHMAN but don’t want to do the whole race solo, you got injured and can’t race one of the three disciplines, you want to get together with a couple of friends and experience Toughman together. Whatever your reason, racing as a relay is a lot of fun. The relay minimum age is 15 years old. You can have 2 or 3 relay members and you get to select a cool or funny team name to identify yourselves. Your team captain should sign up first and then they get to invite the others to join the team. Note that you will be treated like 3 separate racers when you come to pick up your packets, so you do NOT need to come together to collect it (and please note that you cannot pick up any other teammate’s packet). Relay results are not recognized by USAT rankings so your team time or individual time will not be submitted to USAT. Relay awards are given to the top three teams, 3 awards per place. More relay race details are available as a PDF. You can make changes to your team without a charge, if submitted by July 30th. Changes made Aug 1-Aug 31 will be charged $30 per team change, each time you make a change. NO RELAY CHANGES WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER AUGUST 31.

Paratriathletes
Meet the challenge of a half distance triathlon.
This course is not wheelchair friendly. That being said, the swim is fast, the bike is paved, and the run is scenic with rolling hills, half being on hard packed trails. We encourage ALL Physically Challenged to race New York regardless of skill or experience. Let us know if you need a Paratriathlon (PT) Handler. Alternatively, if you are coming with your own handler, please email us your handler’s name, cell and email address. Credentials will be issued to only those people on our list. IMPORTANT: You may not just show up with a handler and expect them to be credentialed. All Handlers will be attending a mandatory orientation meeting on Saturday and then must attend the Paratriathlon briefing immediately following the general athlete meeting. The session provides an opportunity for our volunteers to ask questions, and become familiar with the race course. Both the orientation meeting and the PT briefing will be held at Croton Point Park.

Post Race Food

Post race there will be bananas, Nestle water, Powerbar Perform, Gatorade Endurance and bagels.

Expo
This year’s TOUGHMAN Expo will take place at Lake Welch, Harriman State Park, Stony Point, NY during bag pickup on Saturday from 10 am – 6 pm and Sunday 8 am – 4pm.
Products will be available to rent for race day, or sample, view, and purchase. The vendor expo will be available for spectators Saturday, and Sunday during the adult race.
