This is my end of March 2016 training summary, and I would like to start out by thanking all the individuals that took part in Athletes Feeding Kids Event. This event assisted in motivating me and pushing me to do more than I normally do in the month of March. I would also like to thank my wife and son for putting up with me this month.
As this month comes to a close, in May, I soon have long course triathlon to complete in Noblesville, Indiana. This year is going to be different I will do some bike Time Trials almost every month this summer and this will be something new to me. I have never raced any straight bike races before. I am also dropping back to do Olympic distance triathlete and have been invited to do the bike leg of the Ironman distance race at Cedar Point in September.
Consistency has played a big role in accomplishing the miles on the bike, run and yards in the pool. Setting a goal for the month and logging my miles as I went, kept me on track, setting me up to accomplish my goals. My wife was very important in making sure that I followed a food plan. Planning meals in advance and sticking to the plan helped me to lose the weight I gained when triathlon season ended, as well as fuel my current level of training.
I started the month at 174.5 pounds and by the 31st my weight was down to 173.5 pounds. My food tracking was off this month and allow me only to lose the one pound. I will get back to tracking and follow food intake more regularly in April to try and drop 5 to 10 more pounds. My body measurements are below:
1 March 31 Mar
Neck 15.5” 15.5”
Chest 40” 40”
Right Upper Arm 12.5” 12.5”
Right Forearm 11.75” 11.75”

When comparing March 2015 to March 2016, I had 3.52 miles of swimming in 2015, but this year I have managed to get in the pool almost 4 times as much for 13.64 miles of swimming. I had 275.28 miles of cycling last March, whereas this year I have managed 433.36 miles. In March 2015, I got in 104.86 miles and this March I got 101.38 miles. I did manage to get in more strength training in March 2015 than this year. Last year I got 10:15 hours of lifting and this year I only got 6 hours and 25 minutes of lifting.
